Hello! My name is Giulio, and I am deeply immersed in the world of Japanese culture. As a marketing manager and co-manager of Gallery Mitsuido, I have dedicated myself to a mission: to build a gateway for Japanese Art to the world . My journey began with a profound belief in the importance of cultural integration. I’ve always been captivated by how our unique backgrounds, ways of thinking, and cultural environments shape us. This fascination led me to specialize in communication, a field that resonates deeply with my passion for understanding and bridging cultural divides.
Hello! My name is Misa Yoshino. Born and raised in the picturesque Hida Takayama, Japan, my journey in the art world was inspired by my mother’s profound passion for Japanese art. This led me to pursue studies in art and the specialized restoration of Japanese paper artworks in Kyoto, deepening my connection to our rich cultural heritage. As an artist and skilled art restorer, I not only preserve the beauty of traditional artworks but also express my creativity through painting original pieces. Our gallery is a space where tradition meets modernity, and where each piece tells a story of Japan’s artistic legacy. Here, we invite you to experience the unique blend of the past and the present, through both time-honored and original artworks!
Reiko Yoshino is the founder of Gallery Mitsuido and a lifelong devotee to the world of Japanese art. Her journey in the art business is a testament to her passion and dedication. For over four decades, Reiko has been a luminary in the art world, embodying the belief that positivity in one’s endeavors is the key to success in both life and business. From a young age, Reiko was captivated by the beauty and depth of Japanese art. This fascination was not just a passing interest; it became the cornerstone of her life’s work. Gallery Mitsuido is a place where fine art is cherished, and where artists and art enthusiasts converge to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship of Japanese art
Gallery Mitsuido has served as a dedicated space for authentic Japanese art since its founding in 1980. Over more than four decades, the gallery has built a curated collection spanning ukiyo-e woodblock prints, nihonga paintings, bronze and wood sculptures, lacquerware, hanging scrolls, and fire art. Each work is selected with deliberate attention to craft, material integrity, and artistic lineage — an approach shaped by sustained relationships with Japanese artists across disciplines.
The collection reflects a commitment to depth rather than breadth. Works range from classical pieces rooted in centuries of tradition to contemporary expressions by living artists. Among the creators represented are Adachi Kouji, Hata Sunsai, Higashi Katsuhiro, Kato Gozan, and Keisuke Katou — each bringing distinct technique and vision to the gallery’s holdings. A permanent exhibition, Sachi, Harmony and Beauty, honors the legacy of Sachiko Adachi, a visionary artist whose work remains central to Mitsuido’s identity.
The gallery is co-managed by Giulio Di Rienzo, an Italian intercultural communication specialist with over a decade of direct experience in the Japanese art market. His presence offers international visitors and collectors a rare point of access — someone who understands both the subtleties of Japanese artistic tradition and the expectations of a global audience. This dual perspective shapes every aspect of the gallery’s operation, from curation to consultation.
Takayama, situated in the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture, provides a setting where traditional craft and artistic practice remain part of daily life. Mitsuido Gallery draws on this context without reducing it to spectacle. The emphasis is on substance: verified provenance, considered presentation, and a philosophy that treats Japanese art as a living discipline rather than a decorative commodity.
Gallery Mitsuido is located at 3 Chome-1 Kamiokamotomachi, Takayama, Gifu 506-0055, and is always open.
